About Us

The farm

Village Greens is a small-scale (1 acre) market garden situated within the Aldinga Arts Eco Village, on the Fleurieu Peninsula. We broke ground in January 2014 after a successful crowdfunding campaign which allowed us to purchase essential tools and infrastructure.

Village Greens specialises in salad greens, colourful heirloom produce, and grows over 40 different types of vegetables. Although not certified organic, we use organic practices which support soil and plant health and result in delicious, nutrient-dense food. We are passionate about small-scale, sustainable farming that grows great food and great communities.

Our Team

Nat has worked on several organic market gardens in Adelaide, and was one of the co-founders of Wagtail Urban Farm. Inspired by permaculture in his early 20’s and later by the farming methods used by US-based market gardener Eliot Coleman, Nat has been putting his inspiration into practice. In 2012 he completed an internship at Allsun Farm in NSW, which is widely recognised as one of Australia’s most successful small-scale organic vegetable farms, utilising Eliot Coleman’s pioneering techniques. These experiences have taught him a lot, and for Nat Village Greens is the next step in developing a sustainable livelihood in farming.

Lucy has had a hand in developing and running a not-for-profit women’s empowerment organisation, Carpets for Communities. She has held roles on the management committee of the Aldinga Arts EcoVillage, and recently founded the Supermarket Free Month movement, encouraging people to find alternative, local sources of food. Whilst travelling around Australia with her family, Lucy discovered significant dietary changes improved the health and wellbeing of her family. Real food is a passion for her. She is the mother of two young children.

The rest of our amazing team will be up here soon!
