Kindred Organics Australian Hulled Buckwheat is a nutritious, naturally wheat-free ingredient that is commonly used as an alternative to rice.
Despite the name, buckwheat is not actually a grain but a fruit seed that is related to rhubarb. Organic Australian buckwheat has a distinctive nutty flavour and can be cooked and served in a similar way to rice.
Australian buckwheat is rich in amino acids, vitamins, minerals and antioxidants and is a natural source of protein. This buckwheat is grown and packed on the Daman family farm on the northwest coast of Tasmania.

How to Use: Organic hulled buckwheat is extremely versatile and can be cooked, served whole or ground into a flour.
Buckwheat is often used to make crackers, bread and noodles. It is also a great substitute for rice and porridge.
Before cooking, buckwheat must be thoroughly rinsed under running water to remove any dirt or debris. Add one-part buckwheat to two parts water or broth. Bring to the boil then reduce heat, cover and simmer for about 30 minutes.
