Rooibos, meaning “red bush”; scientific name Aspalathus linearis, is a broom-like member of the legume family of plants growing in South Africa’s western cape area.

Generally oxidised, a little like traditional black teas, they make a great healthy, tasty, non-caffeinated alternative to Tea, with a beautifully coloured liquor and fine floral and honey notes that can be drunk with or without milk/honey/sugar.

High in anti-oxidants, vitamin C and flavonoids etc, Rooibos is purported to relieve stress, assist sleep, clear the skin, boost immunity and balance blood sugar; all in a tasty drink free of ‘the buzz’. (if that floats your boat or are looking for something to drink in the evenings….)

How to– steep as a black tea more than once (95-100deg.C, 2-5 mins), or even simmer on the stove top for a full strong brew, and drink with or without milks or sweeteners…..enjoy
